Professional Membership is awarded to translators or interpreters who meet the strict criteria of the ITIA based on qualification and level of experience. Applicants must also achieve a PASS in the  annual ITIA Professional Membership Examination (translator or interpreter). The assessors for this examination are drawn from an external panel of experts in the field of translation and interpreting.

The ITIA Professional Membership Examination is run once a year.

ITIA Professional Membership applications 2012

The next deadline for receipt of applications for Professional Membership is

5 pm, Friday, 17 February 2012.

Please note: late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

A Question & Answer session for those wishing to apply for Professional Membership will be held on

Saturday, 4 February 2012, at 3 pm 

at the Irish Writers' Centre, 19 Parnell Square, Dublin 1.

Members of the Professional Membership sub-committee - Graziano Ciulli (Chair), Mary Phelan and Annette Schiller - will answer questions on Professional Membership policies and procedure.

There is no charge for this event and it is open to ITIA members and non-members.

Professional Members of the ITIA working mainly in the area of legal translation may apply to become an ITIA Certified Translator. An ITIA Certified Translator is permitted to 'self-certify" legal and official documentation that requires certification.
